Round Up is the single largest fundraiser for the Leather Apron Foundation and is a much-anticipated annual event. Attracting nearly 300 attendees each year -- young and old alike -- this once-a-year event is held at the SPJST #88 lodge in the Heights and is family-friendly.
Featuring face painting, live country music, great BBQ, silent and live auctions -- there really is something for everyone. All monies raised from Round Up fund our entire line-up of programming for the entire year.
The Leather Apron Foundation formalized its back-to-school program in 2016 by partnering with five elementary schools and one middle school in its service area to provide a total of 11 students with five days worth of school uniforms and the school supplies necessary to start off the academic year on the right foot.
The five elementary schools have an approximate enrollment of 3,372 students, with a reported 65% who are economically disadvantaged - that's more than 2,000 students who need assistance.
Day of Service
Civic responsibility, giving back and being good neighbors is what we're all about! The Day of Service partners community organizations that have a defined need with neighbors who are able to help fill those needs.
Occurring the last Saturday in September of each year, neighbors look forward to this community-wide event because it provides an opportunity make a difference in the neighborhoods where they live, work and play.
Back to School
Matthew Garman Children's Raffle
Each year, a family in our community who needs a helping hand benefits from funds raised through the "Matthew Garman Children's Raffle" at Round Up.
Matthew was a student at Oak Forest Elementary who we had the pleasure of helping when the LAF was just getting off the ground. His parents and the Friends of Matthew Garman are keeping the tradition alive in Matthew's honor.
Whether it be an unexpected tragedy, the loss of a job or family member or a healthcare crisis, the Leather Apron Foundation is here to help. We are here to leverage resources throughout the community so that no neighbor has to stand and shoulder the burden alone.
Social Service Assistance
Built on the notion of fostering community among neighbors, the Leather Apron Foundation supports not only individuals in need, but organizations and schools within our service area who work to make our community a better place.
